Green Policy



Our aim is to ensure that the overall effect of the business enhances the local environment, with minimal detrimental impact both locally and worldwide, now and in the future.


Completed in 2023, the design ethos for The Green House was to create a unique property, specifically designed for short stay holiday accommodation and to be as sustainable as possible.

The garden and surroundings



The Green House garden is a

haven for biodiversity. Our own bees buzz through the wild flowers, producing golden honey for guests. Free roaming hens lay fresh eggs for breakfast and feeders attract a vibrant array of small wild birds.



Local area



The Ettrick Valley is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers, with a variety of walking and cycling routes from the doorstep. The nearby Ettrick Marshes is a unique floodplain forest, home to diverse wildlife, including red squirrels, otters, and a variety of bird species. Guests can wander along the trails, spot wildlife, and immerse themselves in the tranquility of this beautiful natural environment.

We are a business committed to a sustainable future. We have been working hard across the business to reduce our impact on the planet. To ensure that our customers understand our sustainability commitment, we will be assessed by Green Tourism to validate our practice. This independent assessment will bring reassurance that our practice is evidenced and authenticated.
